The dancefloor and the stage: where the world happens, but not that only -- where, for a night, for a moment, for the 8 bars of the perfect break, for the duration of a breath, worlds are made, fragment, reform, are lost.

Transmutations. The body in its great desire.

 

Darrell Berry

was born in Tasmania, Australia, and has spent the last 20 years living in Japan and England. Darrell discovered club culture at legendary Tokyo venues such as Gold and Maniac Love, in the early 1990s. For the past few years, Darrell has been documenting the busy East London club/alternative performance scene. His work has been featured internationally in magazines including i-D, A Magazine and Time Out, and his photos of celebrated London club Horse Meat Disco feature in their upcoming double CD on Strut Records.

Darrell is currently in the studio shooting a new portrait series, called Hoof and Horn, inspired by the work of pioneering female photographer Madame Yevonde.

wurde in Tasmanien, Australien geboren und verbrachte die letzten 20 Jahre in Japan und England. Darrell hat die Club Kultur in legendären Tokyo Veranstaltungsorten, wie Gold und Maniac Love, in den frühen 1990er Jahren entdeckt. Während de letzten paar Jahre hat Darrell die geschäftige East Londoner Club und alternative Performance Szene dokumentiert. Seine Arbeiten wurden international in Zeitschriften wie i-D, A Magazine und Time Out gezeigt und seine Photos vom gefeierten Londoner Club Horse Meat Disco werden in dessen demnächst erscheinender Doppel CD von Strut Records erscheinen.

Darrell ist derzeit im Studio und photographiert eine neue Portrait Serie mit Namen Hoof and Horn, die von der Arbeit der Photographin Madame Yevonde inspiriert ist.

nació en Tasmania, Australia, y ha vivido los últimos 20 años en Japón e Inglaterra. A principio de los años noventa, descubrió la cultura de club en establecimientos legendarios de Tokio como el Gold and Maniac Love. Durante los últimos años, Darrell ha documentando el bullicioso ambiente de los clubs y de la escena alternativa de performance del Este de Londres. Su trabajo ha sido publicado en revistas internacionales, como por ejemplo i-D, A Magazine y Time Out, y sus fotos del famoso Club Londinense Horse Meat Disco aparecen en el nuevo CD doble de este club editado en Strut Records.

Actualmente, Darrell está realizando una nueva serie fotográfica de retratos, llamada Hoof and Horn, inspirada en el trabajo de la pionera fotógrafa Madame Yevonde.
